Setting Up Your Skybound Trampoline

How to set up a Skybound Trampoline?

Before setting up a Skybound trampoline, you need to be familiar with the size and its limitations.

There are 2 types of trampolines:
Round and rectangular.
Round trampolines have a variety of sizes and weight limitations. Round trampolines range from 8 feet to 16 feet and they have a weight limit of 200 to 400 pounds.

Rectangular trampolines, on the other hand, have a weight limit of 300 to 450 pounds regardless of size.

Setting it up is very easy. All you need to do is to follow these Skybound Trampoline Instructions:

1. Organize the parts: When unboxing the Skybound Trampoline package, you’ll see the legs, the mat, the springs, and the net. It’s important not to lose any of these parts.

2. Connect the leg extensions to the bases.

3. Once you’ve completed the legs, you need to identify the top rails. It should have 2 squared ends so identify which is the larger one.

4. Insert the wider end of top rail into a T-joint.

5. After connecting the top rails, insert the U-shaped leg base into the opening of the T-joints. Refer to the Skybound Trampoline Manual for more information.

6. Now flip the trampoline and connect the top rails.

7. Install the trampoline mat to the frame. Attach the smaller hook end of a spring to one of the V rings on the mat.

8. Once the mat is installed, the next step is to attach the enclosures to the legs and to connect the net.

After successfully setting up the net, then you can already test it.

Tricks to Pull Off on a Skybound Trampoline

Here are the tricks you can pull off to impress your friends.

Double Bounce

This trick requires at least two jumpers. The goal is to bounce extra high so if you correctly execute this trick, you will be able to bounce much higher than you can on your own.

Spin

This trick may sound easy but it’s not. To execute this, you can start with a small turn first until you’re capable to create the spinning motion. Once you are able to complete the one-quarter, you can already try to so a half-spin, and a 360-degree spin.

Seat Drop

You might want to execute this trick if you want to land on your butt. If you don’t know how to do this, just start by jumping straight in the air and bring your legs forward every time. Doing this gives you 100% chance to land on your butt. Also, put your hands directly against the mat. You should automatically be able to spring your back up.

Knee Drop

This trick is for beginners and it’s super easy to execute. You just need to jump in the air and land with your knees first. Then, pop up back.

Back Drop

This is another trick for beginners. All you need to do is to do a trust fall on the trampoline. If you do this correctly, you should land in the middle of your back.

Front Drop

Unlike the backdrop, you can do this trick by falling forward and spring back up.

Pike Jump

This trick is not ideal for beginners. If you want to learn this trick, try to jump into the air with your legs pointed together in front of you. Then try to touch your toes in the air .Other tricks that you can execute on your Trampoline include:

• Front Back Pullover

• Front and Back Handspring

• Front and Back Flips

• Side Flips

Have you tried setting up a trampoline? What other tricks do you think can be executed?

Working Out On A Trampoline – A Caloric Break Down

We all remember the fun times we had as kids jumping up and down on trampolines. What you may not know is that this is actually a form of workout.
A study by NASA showed that jumping on a trampoline for ten minutes has a greater effect on your cardiovascular system than a thirty minutes jog. With that in mind, the question that remains is how does one burn calories on a trampoline?

Burning calories on a Trampoline

In recent years, trampolining has grown in popularity as a way to burn calories. Jumping has been found to be one of the most effective ways of burning fat. While most workout jumps are done in the form of rope-skipping, trampolining is rapidly being considered as an alternative especially by beginners.

One of the greatest benefits of trampolining is the reduced chances of injury, especially to the joints. Most cardio workouts put significant pressure on the knees and the ankles which could lead to injury. Jumping up and down on a trampoline is much safer since the shock is absorbed by the trampoline.

To work out on a trampoline, you simply need to jump for a set amount of time.

There is no required technique for jumping.

  • For an adult weighing about 150 pounds, a 30-minute workout on a trampoline burns about 126 calories.
  • For a heavier adult of about 200 pounds, the same workout will burn about 167 calories.
  • For a one hour workout, the calories burnt would be 252 and 334 calories respectively for these two individuals.

The amount of calories that are burnt depends on the intensity of the jumps. The weight, height, and age also come into play. As is evident above, the heavier a person is, the more calories they will burn when trampolining.

Getting the best trampoline for working out

If you are serious about getting in shape, then you should consider getting a rebounder. Rebounders are small enough to even fit in your living room and are highly portable. When jumping on a rebounder, the amount of calories burnt is slightly higher than when using a regular trampoline.

For a 200 pound adult, a 30-minute workout would burn 213 pounds while for a 150-pound adult, the number of calories burnt is 159. With these numbers, using a rebounder will help you cut as many calories as going for a brisk walk or doing some water aerobics.

Trampolines and rebounders also happen to be rather affordable for most people. For just a few dollars you can have yourself a decently sized rebounder both for fun and for working out. There are many trampolines on sale on most shopping sites.

Benefits of using a trampoline for your cardiovascular Workout

1. Trampolines are fun and enjoyable. Unlike other forms of workout that seem like torture, trampolining seems more like a fun game rather than a workout session.

2. Trampolines are designed to absorb the shock as you jump thus reducing potential injuries to your joints.

3. Trampolines are cheap and affordable.

4. There are no rules on how to jump which makes it beginner-friendly.

5. Jumping is a highly effective way of working out and burns significantly more calories than other cardio workouts.

How To Measure Trampoline Mat

Trampolines are a lot of fun but not entirely maintenance-free. From time to time, you will need a replacement mat and springs as well. in this post, we will show you exactly how to measure trampoline mat so that when you need a new trampoline mat, it will be easy to find the right size.

How To Measure Octagonal Trampoline Mat

Measuring an octagonal mat is a little different to how you measure differently-shaped ones. As always, you look at the size of the frame rather than the jumping mat itself but the way that you measure it is slightly different.

You need to measure the frame from corner to corner, rather than from side to side. This is fairly easy to get right. Start with one corner and then run a straight line across to the opposite corner. You are going to need to take a second measurement as well.

This one will be at the corners that are perpendicular to the ones that you chose first. Think of it like a compass reading. Your first measurement will be North to South. The next measurement will be East to West.

You are going to measure from the very outside of the metal edge and then check that the two measurements agree. If they do not, add the two measurements together and then divide this figure in half to figure out what the average size is.

A Video demonstration from Skybound on how to measure your trampoline Mat

If you really want to, you can measure four corners and take an average from that instead. If you do that, add all the measurements together and then divide them by the overall number of measurements taken.

This is the most accurate way to figure out what size your replacement mat should be, but you will also get adequate results by just taking the first two measurements that we suggested.

It is important to take these two sets of measurements because it is possible that the frame has become damaged over time. This becomes even more important when the trampoline gets older. There is a lot of tension on the frame itself and so it can warp slightly over time.

The difference shouldn’t be huge, but it isn’t worth taking a chance here and getting it wrong. It might also make a difference to the measurements if the trampoline is sitting on an uneven surface so do take that into account as well.

You must measure corner to corner rather than side to side because this measurement is longer. As a fun experiment, try comparing the length from one corner to another to the one from one side to another. You will find that these are very different readings.

It is also important to ensure that all the springs are in place when you measure. If a spring is missing, or overstretched, your mat won’t be pulled as tight as it should be and that could result in you getting an inaccurate measurement.

It is also a good idea to use a metal snap tape measure as this has an end that you can easily hook over one side. These tape measures will not stretch and so you will get an accurate read. If you are using a standard tape measure, you are going to need someone to help you hold it in place.

How To Measure Your Trampoline For A Round Mat

A round mat is simple enough to measure. You will again need to start taking the measurement at the frame’s outer edge. Run this along to the opposite side and take the measurement. Again, as we suggested with the octagonal frame, take a second measurement perpendicular to the first.

Add the two measurements together and divide the new figure in half to work out what the average is. If you feel that your frame has become slightly warped, you can take some more measurements in a few other places as well. Again, add these together and divide by the number of measurements taken.

We do suggest checking the measurements again before you order the new mat. Getting the wrong size can end up being dangerous as it increases the chance of tearing.

Like with the octagonal frame, wear and tear can also affect the actual shape of the frame over time. This is normal and not too much of a cause for concern as long as it isn’t broken, or it hasn’t weakened.

Depending on the size of the trampoline, and the type of tape measure that you use, you may once again need someone to help you out with the actual measuring. Also, you do need to make sure that the springs are all in their correct positions.

You wouldn’t think that the metal would change position too much because of the springs but it really does.

How To Measure A Mat For A Square Trampoline

Square trampolines are probably the easiest shape to measure. Again, you will want to take two separate measurements, just to make sure that the frame has not warped in any way.

Start at any one of the sides and measure across to the opposite side. Repeat the process running along the sides that you didn’t measure before. This will give you the actual size of the

trampoline.

How To Measure A Mat For A Rectangular Trampoline

This is just as simple as is the case with the square trampoline. Measure across the short sides, and then measure across the longer sides. That will give you the surface area that you will need when looking for the new mat.

Again, don’t skip taking these dual measurements or you may end up getting the wrong size. It is always better to be safe than sorry in this case.

Conclusion

Getting the right size when ordering a new mat depends on how well you measure your existing one. Now you know exactly how to measure, you should always get the right size going forward. We hope that this post has been helpful and helps you get years more of bouncy fun.

History Of The Trampoline

Earlier History

The history of the trampoline can be traced all the way returning to archaeological drawings in ancient China, Egypt and Persia. The first kind of trampolining was done by the Eskimos. These people used to throw each into the air on a Walrus pores and skin, somewhat similar to the sheet used by firemen for catching individuals who have to jump out the windows of buildings that are burning down.

The Advancement

The first modern trampoline was built in 1934 by George Nissen and Larry Griswold. They each attended the University of Iowa: George Nissen must have been a diving and gymnastic competitor and Larry Griswold was a tumbler on the gymnastics team. They observed trapeze musicians who used a tight net to add more value and exhilaration to their performances. The two men took a piece of canvas as well as experimented by stretching it to an angle iron framework by using coiled springs. This invention was initially used to teach tumblers; however it became increasingly popular as a separate activity. George Nissen took a demonstration tour in Mexico during the 1930’s and heard the word ‘trampoline’, meaning diving board. Right after, in 1942, The Griswold-Nissen Trampolining & Tumbling Organization was started and began producing trampolines commercially.

Effectiveness

The industry grew rapidly during World War 2 whenever trampolines became a vital part of physical training programmes. These were used to teach pilots aerial awareness and navigation, providing them with practice in orientation that had never been feasible before. The Navy selected trampolining as one of the twelve actions to add to the aims of the Naval Aviation training. The actual mental and physical conditioning for an aviation cadet had been improved through trampolining as it was implemented into the training. In three Naval Pre-Flight schools, thousands of cadets would be a part of trampoline training. During the development of the space flight programme following the war, NASA brought the trampoline into use to assist train American and Soviet astronauts, giving them significant connection with unpredictable body positions during flight.

Landmark Events

Within 1936 trampoline history took major turn when George Nissen invented the portable trampoline, contributing to the growth associated with trampoline jumping as a competitive event. Another landmark occasion in the history of the trampoline was when the first Playground equipment World Championships were held in 1964. In the 2000 Olympics in Sydney, Australia, trampoline history was made again using its debut as an Olympic sport.

Jump onto the Popularity

For almost 70 years the trampoline has had a positive effect in several areas of society. The trampoline has definitely demonstrated that it can be a valuable service to the human body, including for gymnasts, pilots, navigators and astronauts who require a more intense exercise regime. Today rebounding exercises are proving to be successful and physical trainers and physical education instructors as well are using trampolines as part of overall fitness programmes. People through around the world now enjoy using the trampoline and reaping the numerous benefits that come from simply playing around on it as well.
